The Belmont stakes is the final jewel of the Triple Crown and arguably more difficult to win that the Kentucky Derby or Preakness Stakes. The Belmont Stakes is the longest of all three Triple Crown races at 1.5 miles. So not only is this race the longest, but horses have already run two races in most cases after being in the first two legs of the Triple Crown and attempt to make their second consecutive start on short rest.
The Belmont Stakes is known as "The Test of Champions and is held annually at Belmont Park in Elmont New York.
